My dad had been pushing me to do that for years, and now I finally gave in to that. It hurts a little, and you really shouldn't do it yourself because it can become infected quite easily if you don't use the right equipment, and it should be all sterilized of course. The first couple of weeks you have to clean it twice a day with disinfecting soap, and make sure you wash away all remains of the soap. You also have to put some disinfecting fluid on it, I used betadine (I live in Holland). You must NOT push or turn the piercing in the first couple of months. Also you shouldn't touch it too much. After a couple of weeks you only have to clean the piercing, wound and skin around the piercing once a day. After 6-8 months the wound is healed, but only after 10 months you can put in a new piercing. The first 2 months you can't swim or bathe with it, after 2 months that's no problem anymore.
